In a genre that regarded sickness, both in lyrics and attitude, as a positive virtue, Welsh psychobilly outfit Demented Are Go still stood out from the crowd. They formed in the early 80s, but only made their vinyl debuts (apart from two tracks on Nervous Records’ Hell’s Bent On Rockin’ compilation in 1984) with the 12” single Holy Jack and album In Sickness & In Health in 1986, both on ID Records.

Both releases were well received, reaching Nos 16 and 9 respectively on the indie chart. The future boded well but singer Mark “Sparky” Phillips’ increasingly erratic behaviour led to double-bass player Graeme Grant and guitarist Lex Luther leaving the band, and a new line-up was hastily put together for a third album in 1989.

Released by Link, The Day The Earth Spat Blood consisted of eight tracks written and recorded in just three days, but the result, if a little ragged, was still a surprisingly solid album, though it’s never been listed among their best work. Link followed it up with a live album, Go Go Demented!, in 1990, which was a restrained affair capturing the boys on their best behaviour. Just kidding – it was, of course, complete chaos. [Vía]

Este cd incluye dos álbums de la banda inglesa más "gore" de la escena Psychobilly, se llaman Demented Are Go. Los discos son "The Day The Earth Spat Blood", uno de sus primeros discos, y "Go Go Demented" un directo posterior al álbum...
Demented Are Go es una banda pionera del género psychobilly, que por definirlo escuetamente y de una manera rápida, sería la mezcla de rockabilly con punk, y ellos son más punk que rockabilly con sonidos muy gore, ya que sus canciones hablan de monstruos, sangre, muerte, etc... tambien suelen tocar temáticas satánicas, sexo duro, depravados... vamos, que no se lo recomiendo para niños....
La voz de su cantante, Mark Phillips alias "Spark", es muy característica, parecida al estilo de Tom Waits, o G.G. Allin... muy punk!!!
La producción del disco grabado en estudio, está bastante bien, ya que suena todo en su sitio, batería bastante potente, guitarras distorsionadas, contrabajo correcto... y siempre resaltando la voz de Mark Phillips, que al fin y al cabo es el líder de la banda, y el único miembro que ha estado siempre desde el principio.
El sonido del concierto no está mal, teniendo en cuenta que las grabaciones de los conciertos de esta época (estamos hablando de finales de los años 80 principios de los 90) y de bandas underground como esta, suelen ser de mala calidad... aquí se puede escuchar perfectamente el concierto con calidad correcta. [Vía]
